#Sec377  #Homosexuality  #DoNotRepeal377

"Love is Not a Crime!",
Yes Love is not a crime, But the Lust and the Sex could be !

=============================================================
Dear Fellow citizens, colleagues and countrymen,

This is surely my first time while I am so strongly opposed to what I received as a Petition. Everyone has right to have opinions BUT what makes it dangerous is if people consider opinion and try draw constitution based on it. Reason why Sec377 is a case study of termainal-social-sickness and that why it is important for you to Think and think strongly:

1. Dont you feel we are becoming a nation of mediocre fools - we dont want to debate on critical things like China, Kashmir, Sec370, Telangana, Naxals, Black Money, Corruption, Helathcare, Malnutrition, Farmers, Inflation, Lang grabbing, Political murders, While we SHAMELESSLY choose the mere inferior and soft issues like Sec377 to "showoff" our intellect and portray as a Sensible society.

2. WHY ?! Because nothing is at stake for You and Me, and it is EASY to discuss things when it doesn't actually matters to you. "Hua toh accha nahin hua toh bhi Accha." BUT and While it is rather UNCOMFORTABLE and TOUGH to discuss and resolve things that ACTUALLY matters to You.

3. We are simple, workaholic and half-read society which sympathies with everything without thinking twice what evil it could bring. Arrrrey simple hai yaar, Just ask how many of people crying out their lungs or scraping Sec 377 will favor and encourage homosexuality among their own children? How do you feel visualizing your children, sister, brother or friend in a Homosexual relation? No take a break and Visualize it? Think what all more nonsense and skeptical diseases it would infect?

4. Shame on those driving their PERSONAL Agendas and painting it as "India Demands it". #ShameOnMedia, the like of TOI which is spineless enough to favor anything to brand itself for "Youth" and "Change".

5. Why is that the moment Indian-social-conciseness comes together for a deserving issues (Corruption, Women security, Inflation etc) - a foolish yet attractive issue is induced to divert and divide the very thread that helps us stand together and fight ?

Call me crazy, orthodox or what all shi*t anybody care for. The fact remain as a Responsible Indian I hold a clear conscience towards a better India. Remember India has suffered enough of these foolish agendas and propaganda which leads to nowhere but does increase a social unrest and conflicts, mostly propagated by famed "Intellects".

"Love is Not a Crime!",
Yes Love is not a crime, But the Lust and the Sex could be !

Sincerely,
Navneet

OneDream ..here you go !

Chilling cold at 6 AM in the morning came as a little shock to me! It was curiosity that earned me a trip to Ahmedabad. A city emerging to hold the same value what Mumbai or Delhi used to have when my parents were growing up. I managed to rope in a Ramakant to join me and we hit the road.

Waking up early morning and that too over the weekend was a tough task. Gods know how I made it. As we started from hotel to the venue we were surprised to see that at most of the morning joints breakfast was over !! Lesson learned, Ahmdavad is a city of early morning people city.

Meeting Harsh after 14 years was delighting experience. As the event unfolds we got a better insight on what OneDream is about and their part of story was indeed aspiring. OneDream was celebrating their first anniversary. Despite some traffic hiccups (blockades due to cycle marathon) some 150+ people including students and their family members were there. I found that encouraging and what followed was even engrossing.

The student passed out varies from 20 year old chap to a 38 year old gentleman to a mother of two!! You don’t get to see such a heterogeneous mix usually in India where we hold on to social inhibitions.
One could easily relate to their values which was very much visible in all their action and plans. Don’t remember any company coming up with values as simple and straight like these -
Exist to empower youth
Respect every individual
Always give our sincere best
Excel in execution
Are hungry to win

Event started with a play highlighting the struggle most of the degree-holding student has to go through and how few students though technically sound miss out of career opportunities and very well comprehends the missing links like soft skills, attitude, basic computer skills etc. There were representatives from industry who shared good insight to career planning and basics that one should heed to in the career starting phase. Then there were students who very much lived and proved the dream and efforts OneDream is focused on.
All this followed by a vivacious talk by none other than Harsh was a treat. He easily opened up on the struggle, the hard efforts put in by his team and sharing the 0.062% success. I really wish OneDream to drive it to the next milestone. And am pretty sure about my wish as I could see Harsh guiding his beautiful team Supriya, Purab, Rohan and many more who persist to make the team efforts count

So, what more?! Simple, I look forward to the 2nd Anniversary invite!

Drink It Not

Drink It Not !

Chemicals, contaminants, pollution, price: new reasons to rethink what you drink and beware of bottled water.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have always been against the bottled drinking water. I have a sense of dislike for them (because I still see water as a necessity and don't approve of it being placed as a luxurious commodity) since the time I heard of it. How can you sell 'water' ??!!! This is a height of consumerism from Marketing & Sales in a big way. I have often heard "marketing can sell 'nethng'.. however downgraded it may be".. but cmm'on.. have a look.. they can actually downgrade as simple a thing as water.

I still recall the days our way back from school.. cycling all the way under the angry sun.. pushing ourselves to the nearest 'piyaou' to squeeze the thirst. 'पियोऊ' is an old concept in western rajasthan, its like a social initiative to serve drinking water to passing commuters... gone are the days.

Here, I am offering some key points from an article published over 'Readers digest'. Statistics are with ref to US and eurpore but still hold relevant in context of the subject

consumed over eight billion gallons of the stuff in 2006, a 10 percent increase from 2005.

Evocative names and labels depicting pastoral scenes have convinced us that the liquid is the purest drink around. "But no one should think that bottled water is better regulated, better protected or safer than tap," says Eric Goldstein, co-director of the urban program at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), a nonprofit organization devoted to protecting health and the environment.

more than 25 percent of it comes from a municipal supply. The water is treated, purified and sold to us, often at a thousandfold increase in price.

Most people are surprised to learn that they're drinking glorified tap water, but bottlers aren't required to list the source on the label.

Labels can be misleading at best, deceptive at worst. In one notorious case, water coming from a well located near a hazardous waste site was sold to many bottlers. At least one of these companies labeled its product "spring water." In another case, H2O sold as "pure glacier water" came from a public water system in Alaska.

Lisa Ledwidge, 38, of Minneapolis, stopped drinking bottled water a couple of years ago, partly because she found out that many brands come from a municipal supply. "You're spending more per gallon than you would on gasoline for this thing that you can get out of the tap virtually for free," she says. "I wondered, Why am I spending this money while complaining about how much gas costs? But you don't ever hear anyone complain about the price of bottled water." Ledwidge says she now drinks only filtered tap water.

1999 the NRDC tested more than 1,000 bottles of 103 brands of water. (This is the most recent major report on bottled water safety.) While noting that most bottled water is safe, the organization found that at least one sample of a third of the brands contained bacterial or chemical contaminants, including carcinogens, in levels exceeding state or industry standards. Since the report, no major regulatory changes have been made and bottlers haven't drastically altered their procedures, so the risk is likely still there.

The NRDC found that samples of two brands were contaminated with phthalates, in one case exceeding Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards for tap water. These chemicals, used to make plastic softer, are found in cosmetics and fragrances, shower curtains, even baby toys, and are under increasing scrutiny. They're endocrine disrupters, which means they block or mimic hormones, affecting the body's normal functions. And the effects of exposure to the widespread chemicals may add up.

When exposed to high levels of phthalates during critical developmental periods, male fetuses can have malformed reproductive organs, including undescended testicles. Some experts link phthalates to low sperm counts.

Water bottles do not contain the chemical, which means the phthalates detected by the NRDC probably got into the water during processing at the bottling plant, or were present in the original water source (phthalates have been found in some tap water).

Bottlers don't have to let consumers know if their product becomes contaminated, but sometimes they pull their products from stores. In fact, between 1990 and 2007, this happened about 100 times, says Peter Gleick of the Pacific Institute in Oakland, California. Among the reasons for recall: contamination with mold, benzene, coliform, microbes, even crickets.

TO MY BEST FRIEND

TO MY BEST FRIEND

I was sitting here thinking
of the words I want to say,
but they just wouldn't come out right
so I found a different way

I got a piece of paper
and I wrote this poem for you,
but there's no way to thank you
for everything you do

For always being nice to me
and staying by my side,
for helping fix my problems
and never leaving me behind

For accepting my thoughts and feelings,
though you do not understand,
for never giving up on me
and being my best friend

For making me laugh
and letting me cry
and saying you'd miss me
if I were to die

Everything you mean to me
you could never know
In all the ways you've changed my life
I could never show

The way you take care of me,
you're my shining star
and though it's so incredible
that's just the way you are

Before I get too mushy
it's time for me to go,
but before I leave this ink-filled page
there's one thing you should know

As long as we are living,
no matter when or where,
if you ever need me
just call and I'll be there

I'll climb a thousand mountains
and swim a thousand seas
anything to be there
'cause you've been there for me

~With Kind Regards~

Startup in a slowdown

It isn’t hard to leave a job to start a business if you get laid off.

hi, this is another good article I found over the net and felt worth sharing. I was trying to assess the opportunity and opportunity cost of starting a business in midst the current economic slowdown. So, here we go...

How the downturn might spur entrepreneurs into action!

Yesterday I was doing an interview for the State Comptroller’s office on the state of the Venture Capital industry in Texas. I found myself going negative when I decided to play devil’s advocate and began explaining how the downturn might help Texas in the long run. Here is my thinking:

I have argued North Texas entrepreneurs (or potential entrepreneurs) are too conservative. I have complained over and over that most 20-something ‘potential entrepreneurs’ in Dallas, as opposed to their counterparts in San Francisco and Boston, look a lot more like 30-somethings. Let me explain. In San Francisco most young entrepreneurs are living WAY below their means, sharing houses/apartments and using public transportation. Their fixed costs are VERY low. Compare that with the average ‘potential entrepreneur’ living in Dallas who has a nice big house in the suburbs, a leased BMW, a wife and two kids. I get it. There is no way the 20-something ‘potential entrepreneur’ is going to risk his house, car and family to start a business that is going to fail 90% of the time. On the other hand, the average 20-something in San Francisco can fail over and over with very little impact to his way of life.

What if the downturn continues and deepens? What if we hit double-digit inflation? Maybe a new crop of 20-somethings will emerge in Dallas (and Texas as a whole) who don’t have easy access to credit (to buy houses and cars) and instead focus on building businesses. Without easy access to credit they won’t have anything to risk - everything is upside. Maybe easy credit has been the problem. Of course there is a flip-side to this argument, but that really isn’t my point. Perhaps there is a silver lining. Beyond tightening of credit markets, I suspect there will be a tightening in the job market. It isn’t hard to leave a job to start a business if you get laid off.

Finally, Texas is a very business-friendly state. As companies file Chapter 11 and reorganize, perhaps they will pick states like Texas to relocate to? For example, if Pelosi and Reed would allow GM to file Chapter 11 they could shed their expensive union contracts and move those high paying (i.e. comparable to the Toyota, Honda and BMW jobs we have in Texas) to Texas, Tennessee or South Carolina. Maybe Texas is the NET winner in this realignment?

Being New Manager

Being a First Time Manager and Coaching a First Time Manager.
by Anand

One very key factor in both employee engagement and performance management is the role of the immediate manager. As the Gallup poll on this subject confirms by this classic statement “when an employee joins he/she joins an organisation, BUT when he/she leaves he/she leaves the manager”. This article addresses this critical role of the First Time Manager and coaching the First Time Manager.

I give the summary below
How to get it right as a first time manager:·
Find a coach:
Fine tune your Communication
Build Credibility
Don’t dwell on your mistakes
How to coach your First Time Manager
Encourage, Support
Do not attempt to be in control
Understand Coach vs. Manager
The First Time Manager
Being A First Time Manager
You’ve finally been passed the baton. You now have the organization’s letter that congratulates you on being promoted to a manager. You’re elated, enthusiastic and determined to make a difference. But upon realizing that you now are moving from managing yourself to managing others, anxiety sets in. The initial enthusiasm and confidence slowly begins to fade away to building apprehension on whether or not you will be able to manage people. The feeling isn’t right. Disorientation starts taking over. The key is the make it through the first rough year of being a manager. As Linda Hill, professor at the Harvard Business School says, “The earliest test of leadership comes with that first assignment of managing others. Most new managers initially fail this because of a set of common misconceptions about what it means to be in charge.”
You may have been an outstanding performer as an individual in your previous role but this does not necessarily mean that you will make an outstanding manager. Your individual performance is not as important as the collective performance of your team. As Linda Hill states, you need to “understand what it means to be in charge”. New managers need to identify the challenges they face during an often difficult first year. Three things—getting comfortable with being a beginner again, scoring some early wins, and learning how to ask for help—can make the transition smoother.
Being a manager means a shift from your interests to that of your team. Understanding them is important. Your focus now is to help improve the performance of your team for they are now looking up to you to help them chart their way. As Madeleine Homan, co-founder of Coaching Services for the Ken Blanchard Companies® explains, “The biggest challenge is going from a kind of mono-focused work life where all you had to think about was yourself and your daily task list and moving to a world view that is so much broader.”
However, it is not just your reportees, but your boss and peers who also increasingly demand your time and attention- often leading to conflicting situations leaving you dazed and confused.
One of the things that Homan reminds new managers about is that it is ok to feel overwhelmed. After all, it’s completely normal when you’re faced with a large task that you haven’t done before. What’s important, according to Homan, is how first-time managers respond to this feeling. They can either retreat into their comfort zone and do only what they did best before, thereby not really stepping up as managers or walk through the tide, learning from every mistake they make recognising that they may not get it right the first time, but continue to expand their horizons.
How to get it right
Find a coach: Elvis Presley, the famous rock ‘n’ roll star once narrated an incident, “The first time that I appeared onstage, it scared me to death. I really didn’t know what the yelling was about. I didn’t realise that my body was moving. It’s a natural thing to me. So to the manager backstage I said, “What’d I do? What’d I do?”
Elvis was doing what he did best, what came to him naturally. He was overwhelmed and scared the first time, but he went on to become one of the legendary artists in music history. As a first time manager, you are thrust onstage. People- your boss, peers, and reportees are looking at you to take charge. You begin with what you know best. Yet when it does not work, a coach backstage helps you tide over the initial difficulties. He prompts the lines you missed and does not let the spotlight blind you.
1. Fine tune your Communication: clearly state your priorities and expectations to the team and ask them theirs. Your team needs to understand what you want of them at the same time they, too, should be aware of what to expect from you.
2. Build Credibility: This can be especially challenging when a new manager finds himself trying to establish credibility with direct reports who used to be peers. As Homan explains, “These new managers have to live in the discomfort of knowing that they have no idea what they are doing, and also knowing that there are people who report to them who also know that they don’t know what they’re doing
3. Don’t dwell on your mistakes: it’s ok to make mistakes. Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from taking risks. Focus on the big picture. Developing strong managerial skills will take time. You need to be patient and diligently work towards improving yourself. Learn to be a beginner again.
Coaching a First Time Manager
What do you do once you promote an employee to be a manager? Definitely, he/she has shown the potential of outstanding performer who can go far and beyond. You’ve now officially put the spotlight on this one person who now has to transition from a lone-worker to manage a few people. Just like Elvis Presley, you will have your first-time managers constantly looking backstage (at you) for support. Being a new experience for them, you now become a Coach. Remember the time you were a first time manager? The disillusionment. The apprehension. The confusion. A million questions would have crossed your mind- will I make a good manager? Will my subordinates listen to me? What expectations do I set up? How do I delegate? Etc.
This is exactly what your newly appointed manager is going through. The difficult first year. Once the initial elation and enthusiasm disappears and the enormity of the situation sinks in, he/she will look around for someone to hold on to. This is where your role as a coach comes in.
1. Encourage, Support: As a coach, the first thing that you need to do is ease out the pressure of that the new role may have put on the individual. You need to make him/her understand, that as Herculean a task that it may seem, by keeping a cool head and focus, they will be able to tide over any obstacles that come along. Support the new manager by constantly providing encouraging feedback and directing them towards the right path.
2. Do not attempt to be in control: Do not be authoritative. Understand that you are only a guide lighting the path for the individual. Do not try to force your methods or opinions on to him/her.
3. Understand Coach vs. Manager: A manager and a coach essentially do have overlapping roles; however, a line has to be drawn when it comes to the way in which you provide direction. While as a coach, you need to help the individual find the correct direction as a manager you need to ensure that the individual complies with the said rules and policies to get the job done.
Being a coach requires you to be a friend, a confidant and a role model. The new manager will look up to you for showing him how to get the first year as a manager right. You need to fill him/her up with your experiences- especially about the mistakes and the wrong turns you took while managing a team for the first time. This will help the individual realise that what he/she is going through is not unique and that he/she is not alone. At the time, also discuss what you learned out of from your fall-outs and how you worked hard not to repeat the same mistakes again. You facilitate the individual’s achievements at the same time are there when anything goes wrong.
“Coaching is unlocking the person’s potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them.”- Fortune Magazine

stock market

this is one off the road blog, as its on blog but still not one!

THE STOCK market rollercoaster has left many people dazed and
confused, if not broke. Hindustan Times decided to ask some of the
finest

minds around about what they thought of the crash, boom, bang on the BSE.

MANEKA GANDHI: What did you expect! I have it from reliable sources
that those stupid brokers had been running a bull market, alternating
it with a bear market. Disgusting! Serves them right.

BAL THACKERAY: It's providence. The government should have renamed the
BSE the Chhatrapati Shivaji Stock Exchange. Fits in nicely in the area
too, since it's pretty close to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Vaastu
Sangrahalaya [the museum, in case you didn't know] and the Chhatrapati
Shivaji Terminus.

MALIKA SHERAWAT: It's the Sen-sex, after all. So it goes up and down,
up and down, up and down...

ARJUN SINGH: The HRD Ministry is proposing a 27 per cent reservation
on the 30-share index for penny stocks, since they may be considered
backward. The current 'correction' is nothing but a manifestation of
years of neglect of such shares.

SHAYAN MUNSHI: I saw nothing, I heard nothing, I don't even speak Hindi.

ESHA DEOL: Sen? Sex? Isn't that the story of my latest movie, Ankahee?

SALMAN KHAN: Let's just shoot those damn bears!

LALU PRASAD YADAV: Kya bole? Bull bhaag gaye? Arre, hamaare paas bahut
hai, ek do le jaaon. As it is, Nitish Kumar has taken over our
bungalow and we have nowhere to keep them.

MANMOHAN SINGH: We're introducing a bill making it illegal for the
Sensex to fall below the 10,500-point mark. Brokerages are, after all,
offices of profit.

BILL CLINTON: Sen-sex? I did not have sex-ual relations with that
woman, Miss Sen.

GEORGE W. BUSH: Let's bomb the BSE!

Managing Failure

'A Leader Should Know How to Manage Failure'

(By Former President of India Hon. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam at Wharton India Economic forum , Philadelphia, March 22,2008)

Question: Could you give an example, from your own experience, of how leaders should manage failure?
Kalam: Let me tell you about my experience. In 1973 I became the project director of India's satellite launch vehicle program, commonly called the SLV-3. Our goal was to put India's "Rohini" satellite into orbit by 1980. I was given funds and human resources -- but was told clearly that by 1980 we had to launch the satellite into space. Thousands of people worked together in scientific and technical teams towards that goal.

By 1979 -- I think the month was August -- we thought we were ready. As the project director, I went to the control center for the launch. At four minutes before the satellite launch, the computer began to go through the checklist of items that needed to be checked. One minute later, the computer program put the launch on hold; the display showed that some control components were not in order. My experts -- I had four or five of them with me -- told me not to worry; they had done their calculations and there was enough reserve fuel. So I bypassed the computer, switched to manual mode, and launched the rocket. In the first stage, everything worked fine. In the second stage, a problem developed. Instead of the satellite going into orbit, the whole rocket system plunged into the Bay of Bengal. It was a big failure.

That day, the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization, Prof. Satish Dhawan, had called a press conference. The launch was at 7:00 am, and the press conference -- where journalists from around the world were present -- was at 7:45 am at ISRO's satellite launch range in Sriharikota [in Andhra Pradesh in southern India]. Prof. Dhawan, the leader of the organization, conducted the press conference himself. He took responsibility for the failure -- he said that the team had worked very hard, but that it needed more technological support. He assured the media that in another year, the team would definitely succeed. Now, I was the project director, and it was my failure, but instead, he took responsibility for the failure as chairman of the organization.

The next year, in July 1980, we tried again to launch the satellite -- and this time we succeeded. The whole nation was jubilant. Again, there was a press conference. Prof. Dhawan called me aside and told me, "You conduct the press conference today."

I learned a very important lesson that day.
When failure occurred, the leader of the organization owned that failure. When success came, he gave it to his team. The best management lesson I have learned did not come to me from reading a book; it came from that experience.

When Manekshaw Confronted Indira’s Cabinet

Filed under: Politics, Miscellaneous — Pragmatic @ 8:21 am

The Field Marshal quoted the Bible and offered to resign…

There are many stories, some true and some apocryphal, about India’s legendary soldier - Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. It is common knowledge that India’s military campaign in 1971 to liberate Bangladesh was delayed on professional military advice, against the wishes of the political class. It is delightful to revisit the anecdote in the words of the lead historion of the dramatis personae. The Field Marshal narrated this incident as a personal example of moral courage, at the inaugural Field Marshal KM Cariappa Memorial Lecture in October 1995 at Delhi.

There is a very thin line between being dismissed and becoming a Field Marshal. In 1971, when Pakistan cracked down in East Pakistan, hundreds and thousands of refugees started pouring into India, into West Bengal, Assam and Tripura. The Prime Minister held a Cabinet meeting in her office. The External Affairs Minister Sardar Swaran Singh, the Agriculture Minister, Mr. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad, the Defence Minister, Babu Jagjivan Ram and the Finance Minister, Yashwant Rao Chavan were present. I was then summoned.

A very angry, grim-faced Prime Minister read out the telegrams from the Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Assam and Tripura. She then turned around to me and said, “What are you doing about it?”

And I said, “Nothing, it’s got nothing to do with me. You didn’t consult me when you allowed the BSF, the CRP and RAW to encourage the Pakistanis to revolt. Now that you are in trouble, you come to me. I have a long nose. I know what’s happening.”

I then asked her what she wanted me to do.

She said, “I want you to enter Pakistan.”

And I responded, “That means war!”

She said, “I do not mind if it is war.”

“Have you read the Bible?”, I said.

The Foreign Minister, Sardar Swaran Singh asked, “What has Bible got to do with this?”

I explained, that the first book, the first chapter, the first words, the first sentence God said was, “Let there be light” and there was light. Now you say, “Let there be war” and there will be war, but are you prepared? I am certainly not. This is the end of April. The Himalayan passes are opening and there can be an attack from China if China gives us an ultimatum.

The Foreign Minister asked, “Will China give an ultimatum?” And I said, “You are the Foreign Minister, you tell me”. I told them that my armoured division and two of my infantry divisions were away. One in the Jhansi/Babina area, the other in Samba and the third one in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. I mentioned that I will require all the road space, all the railway wagons, the entire railway system to move these formations to the operational areas and that harvesting was in progress in the Punjab and UP and they would not be able to move the harvest which would rot; and I pointed out to the Agriculture Minister that it wouldn’t be my responsibility if there was a famine. Then I said, “My armoured division, which is my big striking force is supposed to have 189 tanks operational. I have got only 11 tanks that are fit to fight.”

The Finance Minister, who is a friend of mine asked, “Sam why only 11?”

So I told him, “Because you are the Finance Minister. I have been asking you for money for over a year and you say you haven’t got it!”

And finally I turned around to the Prime Minister and said that the rains were about to start in East Pakistan and when it rains there, it pours and when it pours, the whole countryside is flooded. The snows are melting, the rivers would become like oceans. If you stand on one bank, you can’t see the other. All my movement would be confined to roads. The Air Force, because of climatic conditions would not be able to support me. Now Prime Minister, give me your orders. The grim Prime Minister with her teeth clenched said, “The Cabinet will meet again at four o’clock”.

The members of the Cabinet started walking out. I being the junior most was the last to go and as I was leaving, she said,”Chief, will you stay back?”

I turned around and said, “Prime Minister, before you open your mouth, may I send you my resignation on grounds of health, mental or physical?”

She said, “Every thing you told me is true”.

“Yes! It is my job to tell you the truth” I responded, “and it is my job to fight, it is my job to fight to win and I have to tell you the truth.”

She smiled at me and said, “All right Sam, you know what I want?”

I said, “Yes, I know what you want!”

Three cheers to the old soldier! The only regret - I wish all of us had compulsorily read this at school, among all the mythological and faux historical fables, as a living illustration of moral courage.

INDIA SUCKS

Well, this is a snap of my short (witty) stint with a poor person who HATE India. I am not a Nehruji and neither I am Gandhiji, though I believe in them(!!), but I have my own understanding and my own ways (read as mood) to tackle issues I come across.

Text in blue is my reply to the remarks my dear Pakistani friend shooted over. But, in no ways I had any intention to refute or offend his feelings. SO, here it is:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INDIA SUCKS!!!!!!!!
>> Yes, we do suck all the humiliation and flith cropping around us. And thats why we are a respected community on this earth.

THIS IS THE PAKISTANI ANSWER TO THE COMMUNITY 'I HATE PAKISTAN AND WHAT ABOUT U’ JUST TO LET THE LEVEL HEADED INDIANS KNOW WE DID'NT DRAW THE FIRST BLOOD....
>> I feel Bad and Pathetic about the person who started smthing called "HATE PAKISTAN AND WHAT ABOUT U".. But one common thing in India and Pakistan is that both the countries have skilled people without Job wasting their time , money and efforts... and ultimately falling sick !

TO THE MEMBERS ABSOLUTE ZERO TOLERATION ON LUED REMARKS ON RELIGION I DONT CARE IF THEY R DOING THE SAME. I PLEED EVERYONE TO SHOW THEIR STRENGTH IN NUMBERS BY JOINING THE COMMUNITY AND ZEROING ON THE CULPRITS. I PROMISE TO DELETE THIS COMMUNITY IF THEY DO THE SAME
>> "Religion" !!, well I bet if someone can define this term here. Yes, of course I agree to an extent that people MUST not CRITICIZE other religion. Adding to this note, I would request everyone to explore how beautiful is Islam.. its not abt being bloodsheds.. it dont advocates any killings.. The first fight Prop. Mohd. fought was for saving a village. And half the population of this village was other religion followers.. even Hindus!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
as a closing note I scrabble down few lines for him :

"Gumaan hai mujhko meri hi badgumaari ka
Haasil kya hai meri zidd ke elaan ka...
Andhera aur Dhuaan hi hai ab toh har taraf mere
Maoula phir bhi meri aankhen band kyoun hain"

'Quality Fade': China's Great Business Challenge

Recent media reports detailing a series of quality problems with Chinese-made exports -- pet food tainted with prohibited chemicals, toys covered with lead paint and tires that fall apart at high speed -- have alarmed the American public and resulted in a number of international product recalls. In this opinion piece, Paul Midler, founder and president of China Advantage, a services firm that provides outsourcing and supply chain management to U.S. and European companies, discusses what he calls "quality fade" and a number of related challenges that face Chinese manufacturing.

Jobs versus self-employment

Jun 18, 2007 The Career News Vol. 7 , Issue 24

The Latest News, Tips and Tools For Your Career

Comparing a job to self-employment
Abridged: AARP

DETROIT, MI -- Do you want to be self-employed? Get to use more creativity? Try for financial independence? More fully draw on your knowledge and skills? The U.S. Small Business Administration lists these as common reasons for wanting to start a business. However, successful entrepreneurs typically plan their new businesses for a year or more. Would you take a small-business start-up course or draft a business plan and get an expert to tell you how realistic it is?

A good place to start is to think through some comparison questions to start making your choice between a salaried job and self-employment. Include a list of the risks involved in achieving your goal. In some cases, the risks may be small. They would involve mostly the loss of your time and effort. Some ventures, though, would mean risking your life savings, your home, pension & health benefits, or even your personal relationships.

Additionally, consider these questions. Do you have the drive and energy to achieve what you want? Do your temperament and personality match those of business owners? Many business owners work seven days a week and take years to succeed. This could be just the challenge you need at this time in your life. Alternatively if you planned, could you get a better job at your company? Or a different job somewhere else? Would the results satisfy you as much as your own business?

LAS VEGAS, NV -- Are you dissatisfied with the way you're being treated by your current employer? Perhaps you're an executive who has been displaced. You realize that your labors have been creating wealth for others but not for yourself. You've had the idea of owning your own business as a solution to these and other issues but you've heard all the horror stories about the failure rates of independent businesses. A franchise business may be the answer for you.

A successful franchise is a network of interdependent business relationships that allows a number of people to share a distinct brand identification, a successful method of doing business, and a strong marketing, distribution, and support system. If you would rather own a McDonald's than an independent burger drive-in, franchising may be right for you. In this case, we recommend you sign up for a complimentary consultation with FranChoice, the premier "matchmaker" of the franchising industry.

During your consultation, the consultants from FranChoice will help you identify franchise businesses that meet your criteria based on your goals, skills and preferences. Taking a career detour
Abridged: StarTribune.com

ST. PAUL, MN -- Sometimes in order to land the job or career you want, you need to take a career detour. That means taking a job within an industry or field that can be a steppingstone to the career you really want.

Working a full-time, demanding job might be a way of building a financial stash prior to embarking on a new business venture for yourself. Or working a part-time or less demanding job might help you when studying toward another career. As long as you keep reminding yourself what the end goal is, a detour can be the right move.

When starting on a detour, make sure you are constantly challenging yourself and taking risks. Seek opportunities to stick your neck out and get noticed. You also need to be proactive about your goals and initiate discussions with your employers, promote yourself, and ask for opportunities to learn new skills or try out new projects. Keep in mind the ability to change industries and careers takes considerable patience and persistence, and typically the willingness to work for less income and perhaps in less ideal positions - to get where you want.

Tip for narrowing your job search
Abridged: StarTribune.com

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Take a little more time to put together an impressive cover letter, resume and portfolio that could target an employer you would really like to work for, and one that might offer more of what you really want. In other words, in order to find success, narrow your job search.

Focus on the transferable skills you most enjoy using and consider the environment in which they would most come alive. Know what you really want out of a job before starting the job search. By studying yourself first, you gain an advantage over others who are following the trail of jobs that they either don't have a chance of getting, or wouldn't want if they did get it.

Write down what you really want out of a job - money, good benefits, working for a large company, in a specific field and more. Then think of your skill set, and search for jobs that combine the most important factors you have listed. Prioritize what's most important, and analyze where you would be willing to negotiate or compromise. Find the job you want; don't take a job you need. By doing this you will gain an idea of where you would be most likely to find a good fit.

Making yourself irresistible to employers
Abridged: Star Tribune

ST. PAUL, MN -- If you've been passed over for promotion, rejected for the job of your dreams or lost enthusiasm in your current career, maybe it's time to go back and add the skills and education that would make you irresistible to employers.

"We see many adult learners return because they are passionate about a career change and opportunities for advancement," says Dara Hagen, director of career services at Century College. It's becoming very common for students to return to school because without it many are not eligible for a promotion and, in some cases, would not even be eligible to apply for the job they now hold.

Lack of a bachelor's degree can also limit your ability to move to other opportunities, which is becoming increasingly important. Once you have a degree, your career options take off. Returning to school does take sacrifices, and it is hard work, but the sense of satisfaction and the skills developed can pay off not only in career progression but in your own level of satisfaction with your life.

Online universities offer convenience and higher pay
The Career News

NEW YORK, NY -- According to the U.S. Census Bureau the difference in lifetime earnings between a high school diploma and bachelor's degree is a million dollars. Add on a master's degree and you can expect to earn an additional half a million dollars in earnings. Those with professional degrees earn much more - about 4.4 million dollars during their working life.

Jennifer Day, Chief of the Education and Social Stratification Branch at the U.S. Census Bureau says, "In 1999, average annual earnings ranged from $19,000 for high school dropouts, to $26,000 for high school graduates, and $45,000 for college graduates and $99,000 for the holders of professional degrees. That includes medical doctors, dentists, veterinarians and lawyers.

If you think that the only way to earn a degree is to spend gobs of money and traverse across a complicated college campus, taking anywhere from two to eight years to get your Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's or even doctorate degree...think again. With advances in technology, you can now get your degree online, from an accredited university in your spare time and from the comfort of your own home. Business schools teach the art of persuasion
Abridged: The Washington Post

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Ever come out of a meeting wishing that you, too, could persuade people the way that silver-tongued co-worker of yours can? Many workers assume that their powers of persuasion are innate. But recent research shows that these skills can be learned. And not only can they be learned, but they should be learned for today's workplace.

The workplace has changed from a hierarchical structure to a more horizontal one, with teams of people of various positions. Workers are expected to be involved in many decisions and help push a company's agenda, no matter their title. In the past, "you could give people orders," said Robert Bontempo, a professor at Columbia Business School who will teach a course on persuasion in the school's executive MBA program. "Now, even in the military, you have to work in cross-functional teams."

More business schools are building soft skills such as persuasion into their curricula. "There are those who are going to be gifted in certain things," said Scott Koerwer, associate dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business. But even if people aren't naturally persuasive, they can learn to be more so. "In order to have an effective, valuable society, you need these skills," Koerwer said.

Government grants fund education & businesses
Staff Writer, The Career News

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Last year alone, over $30 Billion in government grants were awarded to people like you. Over 20 million people get government money every year. Approximately 1,000,000 entrepreneurs will get money to start or expand an existing business. About 6,000,000 get money to go to college. And 10,000,000 will get fully paid help and training for a better job.

Jackie Smith of Maryland was in a dead end job until she received over $30,000 from the government to get a degree in tax accounting. With her degree, she was able to get a better paying job. Many people never apply for these grants, and an enormous amount of money goes unclaimed because of not knowing where to start or the misconception that there's too much red tape involved in getting a grant.

However, as a taxpayer and U.S. citizen or resident, it's your legal right to access this money. The great thing is it never has to be paid back -- and it may be easier than you think to apply. In fact, there are many people from all walks of life who receive a government grant and other benefits every day. To learn how you can receive at least $25,000
